The Slack app

Quick answers for blankit in Slack.

How do I add blankit to our Slack workspace?

In blankit, go to Firm settings → Integrations → Slack and click Add to Slack. Slack will ask a workspace admin to approve the app, and you’re connected. There’s a step-by-step guide inside blankit that walks you through it, including pairing your first channel.

I dropped a file in a channel and nothing happened.

Two things to check. First, the bot has to be invited to the channel — type /invite @blankit in the channel if it isn’t there. Second, blankit only processes files in channels you’ve mapped to a document type (renewals, claims, quotes, and so on) in Firm settings — unmapped channels are deliberately left alone. If both are set and it still doesn’t react, email us.

blankit says it doesn’t recognize me in Slack.

Access is matched by email: the email on your Slack profile has to match your blankit sign-in email. If they differ — say your Slack uses a personal address — update one of them so they match. Guests and people outside your firm get no access by design.

Can it change things in our account from Slack?

Only with your approval. When you ask it to do something — open a task, record a figure, generate a document — it shows a card with the exact change and Approve / Dismiss buttons. Only the person who asked can approve, the card expires after an hour, and every applied change lands in your firm’s audit log. More on the boundaries on the blankit in Slack page.

How do I disconnect it?

In blankit: Firm settings → Integrations → Slack → Disconnect. You can also remove the app from Slack’s own admin side — either way, blankit stops reading anything from your workspace.

Your CRM

Connecting Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho or Dynamics.

How do I connect our CRM?

In blankit: Firm settings → Connections → HubSpot, Zoho & Dynamics 365. Salesforce has its own panel just above. Zoho is the quickest — about thirty seconds, with no key to create: you press Connect, sign in to Zoho, and approve blankit. HubSpot takes a couple of minutes and needs a Super Admin. Dynamics 365 is a job for whoever manages your Microsoft account. There’s a step-by-step guide inside blankit — press Start and search for “Connect your CRM”. More on what each one does on the CRM integrations page.

Our Zoho region is greyed out.

Zoho keeps each account in one region, and blankit has to be registered with Zoho separately in each. Canadian Zoho accounts work today; the others are listed but not yet switched on. Email us and we’ll enable yours — there’s nothing for you to set up while you wait. Not sure which you’re in? Look at the address bar while signed in to Zoho: zohocloud.ca is Canada, zoho.com is the United States.

I ran the match and most of my clients came back as “more than one match”.

That’s usually a book where several clients share a first word — a corporate family, or a group of numbered companies. blankit will never guess between two similar names, so it shows them to you instead of picking one. Work down the list and choose the right record; each choice is remembered, and anything you dismiss stays dismissed. If a client is spelled very differently in your CRM, add that spelling as an alias on the client record and run the match again.

It connected, but no renewal dates appeared.

Matching your clients and reading renewal dates are two separate steps. After the match, pick which field on your company records holds the date — it’s a dropdown, so you choose by name rather than typing anything — then press Fill in renewal dates. It only fills gaps: a renewal you’ve already scheduled keeps the date you gave it. If you don’t track renewal dates in your CRM, leave the field unset — matching still works without it.

Will it change anything in our CRM?

Not unless you ask it to. Out of the box blankit only reads. If you want figures written back, you turn that on yourself and then choose exactly which ones go where. Disconnecting changes nothing in your CRM either — it just stops blankit reading from it.

Our book isn’t in a CRM at all.

Then you don’t need one — a CRM is entirely optional. If you keep your clients in a spreadsheet, go to Clients → Import client list and upload it. blankit shows you exactly what it will do before saving anything, and you can upload the same file again later to refresh it.

Everything else

Accounts, documents, and your data.

I can’t sign in.

Use the Forgot password link on the sign-in page to reset by email. If your firm requires two-step verification and you’ve lost access to your authenticator or passkey, your firm’s admin can reset it — or email us and we’ll help.

A document didn’t parse the way I expected.

Every figure blankit extracts can be reviewed and corrected before anything is sent anywhere — nothing goes to a carrier or a client without you approving it. If a carrier’s format is consistently read wrong, email us the document type and carrier name (not the document itself) and we’ll tune the reader for it.

Where is our data stored?

In Canada. blankit runs in AWS’s Montreal region (ca-central-1) and client documents are processed and stored there. The full picture — sub-processors, encryption, access controls — is on the Trust & security page.

How do I report a security concern?

Email hello@blankit.ca with “Security” in the subject line and we’ll prioritize it. Please don’t include client data in the report itself.

Didn’t find it? Just ask.

No ticket numbers, no chatbot maze. Write to us and a person who knows the product replies within one business day.
